First time I took the test I came out dead in the center. Knowing that it would surprise a lot of people to learn that I'm a moderate in every way, I decided to take the test again and think harder about the difference between agreeing/disagreeing and STRONGLY agreeing/disagreeing. Second time, I came out squarely on the horizontal axis (neither authoritarian nor libertarian) but two markers in to the right, which conformed to my self image slightly better. The two-dimensional "compass" may be a better idea than the one-dimension left vs right method of characterizing political opinions. But what intelligent person actually uses the left/right distinction as anything but shorthand? Even with an additional dimension added, the political compass is still an unsubtle test.

The questions are just awful. Any subtlety or nuance is lost.
